Dear friends and family,
Things have been great this week! We have been super busy with appointments and with lessons. It's amazing how as you stay busy time just flys!
We were able to meet so many awesome people this week. We met a women named Jessica, we came across her while we were tracting. She has four small children and just moved here a week ago. She said she was looking for a church for her and her family to attend so she invited us in and we were able to teach her the restoration and introduce her to the Gospel. She seemed super excited to read the Book of Mormon and to pray! We went back the next day with a member and found out she had started reading the Book of Mormon. She had some questions and we were able to answer them. We invited her to come to church.
Unfortunately we had to drop an investigator, Willie, He was the sweetest old man! But sadly he wasn't keeping commitments so we just left him with our number and told him to call us if he was ever interested.
On Friday we had the opportunity to go and see Brother and Sister Coyn. Sister Coyn is a member and Brother Coyn is an investigator. He owns a taxi cab business in Chicago as well as several other successful businesses through out the country. He has been taught by missionaries in the past and knows most of the doctrine, he has also been attending church regularly. We were only able to meet with him for a short time but he is defiantly a great guy!
Last Monday night while we were wandering the "mean" streets of Rocky Mount we came across a women named Laura. We gave her a pass along card and she started crying. She proceeded to tell us that she was struggling with her family and that us meeting her was a sign to her. Unfortunately she's out of town but she said she would definitely love to talk to us when she got back. This goes to show that we are able to effectively do the Lords work when we are in the right place at the right time by standing in holy places. That small miracle was such a strong message to me that what I am doing is right.
Last night we were able to fallow up with a guy that we met on the street his name is Radnall. He is the nicest person ever! He has some mental disabilities that make it near impossible for him to learn but teaching him was defiantly something that I will always remember. When we asked him what he knew about religion he said he loves Jesus. It was so touching to hear that. He has a sincere love for our savior.
I've noticed that missionary opportunities are every where! It's hard not to find people to talk to. I would challenge you all to pray for and look for those opportunities to share the gospel. This might require us stepping out of our comfort zones. But the Lord will bless us as we do so, I know he's blessed me.
One thing that I've been studying this week out of Preach my Gospel was charity. I found it interesting that in order to have pure charity we first need to have faith. This was another witness to me that faith is EVERYTHING without faith we have nothing. We can know all the scripture stories, memorize all the scriptures we want, and know all the doctrine. But if we don't have faith in those things they're useless. We can obtain this faith by reading and praying continually about The Book of Mormon and gaining a testimony of it. By doing so we will strengthen our testimony of the restored gospel and work towards becoming truly converted to the Lord.
I love this church. I really do! I know I still have a ton to learn. And a long ways to go. It's so hard to believe it's been more than a month! It seems like yesterday I was getting to the MTC. But I feel like I'm on the right path! I love you all and miss you. I would love to hear from you all!
