Weekly Letter March 16, 2015

Friends and Family,

This week has absolutely flown by! It's hard to remember everything that has happened.
On Tuesday I went on exchanges with the missionaries in Oak Hill. I went up there for a few days and Elder Esplin came to Beckley for a few days. It was a blast! They have a recent convert up there, Steven, every time he sees a missionary he gives them a pocket knife. They aren't just the cheap ones either. They're the super nice ones. When Elder Chinn and  got back into Beckley Elders Ence and Esplin had made us cookies. Nice of them, right? Wrong. I soon found out about six hours later that they had used Epsom salt instead of regular salt.... So moral of the story is. Don't eat cookies, or anything for that matter, that your companion makes for you. You never know what will be in it.

On Thursday I went on exchanges again, just for the day. Because Elder Caldwell and Elder Ence had to go up to Charleston for a meeting. So I got to be with Elder Payne for a day. He has been out for almost twenty one months. So I was able to learn quite a bit from him. He is also a convert so it was cool to hear his story as well.

Friday morning we had a meeting in Charleston. It was a good meeting. I was able to learn a lot. When we got back our neighbor said that he needed some help moving. So we agreed to help him out. However when we went inside we realized that we had some lessons scheduled for that night so we would be unable to help him move. So we asked the other set of missionaries we live with, Elder Payne and Caldwell if they wanted to help him instead. They said that they were busy as well. So than we called Elders Esplin and Chinn to see if they would help, thankfully they were. So they came down and loaded the moving truck than left to go unload the truck at the guy's new house. Only he never told them how far away it was, it turned out to be and hour and a half away! Apparently the house was down in a Long Hollow as well. So it was a super sketchy ride to the house. Hallow: (also pronounced Holler) A long stretch of dirt road surrounded by densely forested areas. Often leading to an old and or trashed hose and or trailer. When the got there Every one was drunk and unable to help. So Elder Chinn and Elder Esplin had to unload the whole entire truck themselves! In the rain. When Elder Ence and I got back from our lessons that night around 9:00 we saw their car still parked at our neighbors house. So we shot them a text asking where they were. We finally got a text back from them around 10:00, thirty minutes past when we are supposed to be in. Telling us that they just got done and would be back at our house around 11:30, an hour past when we are suppose to be in bed. So they finally get back to our house, exhausted, covered in mud, and smelling like alcohol. They finally got back to Oak Hill around 12:30 that night!

So I had a pretty eventful week! With lot's of teaching, lots of meetings, and lots and lots of fun!
Thank you all for every thing.

- Elder Jarman
