Friends and Family,
Things are going great! Elder Ence and I have been working hard and we have been able to be teaching a ton as well as finding new people to teach when we aren't teaching! The members of the church in Beckley are amazing people! They are so full of love for the Gospel and so full of love for those around them! That is why I love this mission so much! Because I get to meet so many different people who come from different walks of life, and each of them have a different story to share and different things that I can learn from! A ton of people around here, member or nonmember, live Christ centered life's. despite the poverty that is so prevalent in the region people still figure out how to be humble.
So we live in a house with another set of missionaries. We have the main floor and they have the basement. When I got here there was a ton of snow, at least two feet. During this past week most of the snow melted. When it did it flooded the streets and lawns and every thing else, it was a mess. So one morning after studies the other Elders come up the stair carrying all of there stuff, beds, clothes, materials, food, all of it. And they just started putting it in the living room! When we asked them what they were doing they proceeded to tell us that during that night their basement had flooded! They said when they called the land lord he just told them that it happens all the time and to just mop it up the best they could. Thankfully the majority of the flooring in the basement is concrete. So there wasn't any mold or mildew to worry about. But we did sped the next few days mopping up the basement. And than on top of that on Saturday night we went to a birthday party for one of the members of the ward and the church. While there I got cornered by the Elders Quorum President. Asking me to teach the priesthood lesson the next day. The lesson went well. But it sure was stressful to put together a lesson all in one night!
One thing that I learned this week from listening to a talk was that the greatest friend that we could ever make in our life is the Savior. He is the best friend that any of us could ever have! We can come to him with anything and we can trust him with anything. We should always do our best to be a friend to others but out of all the friendships that we make, excluding marriage, the relationship and friendship that we make with our savior should be the most important!
Thank you for every thing that you guys do for me and for the support given to me!
- Elder Jarman
